Fort Lauderdale Mahi Fishing

Life is good when the mahi are biting in Fort Lauderdale.  Captain Mike has mastered the art of mahi fishing in Fort Lauderdale.  Mahi like to swim in schools so it's not common to have multiple mahi hooked on different lines at the same time.  We usually catch mahi by trolling multiple baits behind the boat.

Fort Lauderdale Barracuda Fishing

Check out the teeth on this barracuda caught in Fort Lauderdale.  Don't worry they used plyers to get the hook out of his mouth.  We tend to catch a lot of barracuda near the reefs in Fort Lauderdale.  They're fun to catch but I wouldn't want to run into one while snorkeling.   This barruda looks to be at least four feet long!

Boca Raton Tuna Fishing

Here's a nice little tuna caught in Boca Raton.  These blackfin tunas are absolutely delicious and put up a nice little fight.  These are some of my favorite fish to catch.  Bring back a few of the tuna back to docks at Boca Raton and you'll be a pretty popular person.  I recommend slightly searing these tuna while keeping the middle raw.

Boca Raton Barracuda Fishing

Barracuda are a fun fish to catch on the reefs off of Boca Raton.  Kids especially love catching this fish because they impressed by their huge teeth and jaws.  Unfortunately we can't eat Boca Raton barracuda because they have a bacteria that can harmful to humans when consumed.  We don't usually target barracuda but we don't mind catching them on our Boca Raton fishing charter either.

Mystery Eyeball found on Pompano Beach

Mystery Eyeball found on Pompano Beach

Yeah. The photo is a little gross but is it weird that this makes me want to go fishing?  According to the Sun Sentinel, Gino Govacci was on his usual morning walk down the beach when he spotted a monster eyeball just sitting there. Lucky for marine biologists, Govacci had the sense to get in touch with Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, who arranged to pick up the giant blue orb to help identify it.

When I first saw the photo, I immediately thought swordfish, and reading further down the Sun Sentinel article I found a marine biologist quoted as saying the eyeball is most likely a swordfish but might also be from a giant squid.

Here's a photo of our Fort Lauderdale fishing captain Mike Johnson with a large swordfish he caught. You can see the resemblance of the eye, which is about the size of the palm of his hand.

Pompano Swordfish Fishing Charter

I hope one of our Pompano fishing charters that's going out today catches a one eyed swordfish. Now that would be news!

Bahamas Fishing Trips

bahamas-fishing-charter

We offer a number of different fishing charters to the Bahamas.  Many of our trips leave from South Florida while others begin in the Bahamas.  For shorter Bahamas fishing trips we often recommend a 3 day trip from Palm Beach, Miami, or Fort Lauderdale to Bimini.  On a calm day boats can reach the Bahamas within a few hours.

Bahamas fishing charters can range from super highend luxury sportfishing yachts to casual sportfishing boats.  There are two option for sleeping accommodations aboard a fishing charter in the Bahamas.  If the boat is big enough passengers and crew can both sleep on the boat.  If the party is larger that 4 people we often times recommend hotel and resort accommodations to our guests.  Some of are larger sportfish boats can sleep up to 8 guests plus crew.  Guests can spend all day, on the boat and can get a good nights rest at a resort.  Another good option if the boat isn't big enough to accommodate the guests and crew to sleep aboard is to let the crew share a hotel room while guests can enjoy accommodations on the boat.

We offer Bahamas fishing charters in all price ranges.  Most charters have a flat fee per day and then add expenses on.  There are some charters that have all inclusive pricing as well.  The main expenses on a Bahamas fishing charter is fuel, catering, and dockage.

Some of our favorite Bahamas fishing destinations include, Nassau, Freeport, Eleuthra Island, Bimini, Grand Bahams, the Abacos and the Exumas.  World class fishing exists in all of these exotic locations throughout the Bahamas.  Some unique pelagic fish species that are targeted in the Bahamas are white and blue marlin, sailfish, mahi, wahoo, and tuna.

The best way to book a fishing charter in the Bahamas is to contact VIP Fishing Charters with a specific set of dates.  Keep in mind that a lot of our fishing boat that do these trips are constantly traveling around the caribbean and other parts of the world especially the higher-end ones.  We can tell exactly which boats will be available for a Bahamas charters and quote you on a variety of different fishing options.  Check out the link to our Luxury Fishing Yachts.  These are some of the most popular choices for Bahamas fishing trips.
